Most of my home buyers have come to me via the internet in the last 3 years. Some studies suggest that over 80% of all home buyers start their search on the internet before deciding to look at homes. Many begin their search weeks or months before actually deciding to look at homes and before calling a real estate agent.
Traditional means of finding a buyer would be a sign in the yard, neighborhood flyers, placing an advertisement on the super market bulletin board, an ad in the newspaper and some open houses.
While homes have sold in this fashion, a smarter way is to use the internet just because that is where the majority of the home buying public is beginning their search.
One way is to target all the free fsbo internet sites with a descriptive view of your property. Do not forget the paid fsbo sites also. You are in the market of selling, so expect to pay for your advertising. It is very important to get a website and upload pictures when marketing your property. Some companies will build you a website, give you a URL (www web address), and list your property in up to 100 of the free fsbo websites.
A good candidate that I researched offers a nice bundle of services for a one time only charge of $ 59.95. Go to your favorite search engine and type in "free FSBO" to get a list of sites. Use a site that offers a website and a submission service for their fee.
I have also had personal success by using a free advertising site called Craigslist. After getting a website with a URL address, start posting ads at this free site. I have sold many of my personal listings using this free advertising medium.
Good luck in selling your home FSBO. Keep in mind your time frame for selling and do not forget to hire a professional if it does not sell.
